Dry Vacuum

DRY VACUUM PUMPS

Dry vacuum pumps are a relatively new family of pumps that have been developed to address the concerns of environmental pollution, process contamination, and pump reliability in certain Vacuum processes.  Basically, dry vacuum pumps are positive displacement pumps operating without the aid of sealing fluids or oils, and depend on very close internal dimensional tolerance and/or multistaging to reduce gas slippage in the pump.

All of the three main types of dry pumps rely on non-contacting rotors which are synchronized during rotation by timing gears and are sealed from the pumping chamber by mechanical seals. A cooling water jacket along with gas purges are used to help reduce the high internal gas temperatures being generated from the lack of a sealing fluid.

The three main designs are:  ROTARY LOBE, HELICAL SCREW, and CLAW
